Mm hmm! I don’t know about you, but that’s what I’m thinking whenever I eat a nice ripe avocado. I prefer to have it with a salad or on a burrito but by itself is great too. The avocado fruit (yes, it’s a fruit) is an excellent superfood. An Avocado’s nutrition is made up of heart healthy fiber and fats. Avocado’s are also low in sugar, which means they are healthy for those with diabetes as well. In fact, I don’t think that avocados are bad for anyone, except of course those who are allergic to them.
At any rate, if it is safe for you to eat avocados then I highly recommend it. Remember that they are high in fat, but it is not the same kind of fat that we think of for foods that make us fat. The fat found in an avocado is mostly polyunsaturated, and monounsaturated, both of which are very good for our bodies. They provide tremendous benefit for the health of our skin, heart, and brain among other things. Undoubtedly my favorite thing about avocados is that they taste awesome. Even when eaten without anything else. The texture of an avocado is smooth and nutty, and the flavor is unique.
When I first started eating avocados I nearly thought that I had struck gold. Especially when I discovered guacamole. As you may know, guacamole is a spread that is made up primarily of avocados. There are many varieties of guacamole ranging from very healthy to not so healthy. It just depends on what you add to the avocado. The fiber in avocados not only helps your heart, it also aids in digestion. Which, these days many modern civilizations are having problems with. In fact, improper digestion is one of the key problems having to do with being overweight.
As unappealing as it may sound, not all of that extra weight that many of us carry around is fat. High fibrous foods such as avocados will regulate our health so that we can essentially get rid of the bad, and bring in the good. You’ll start to have a lot more energy as you eat more foods like avocados. So next time you’re in the produce section at the grocery store, don’t just pass them by or give them a second glance. Grab a few avocados and invest in not only your health but your overall enjoyment of life as well.
