Fast, Healthy Weight Loss

It’s hard to know if there is such a thing as fast healthy weight loss. Losing weight in a rapid manner can have bad consequences such as severely lowering the metabolism rate and damaging the cardiovascular and digestive systems. When you consider those things, fast weight loss doesn’t sound too appealing. However, if you want a fast healthy weight loss, I do believe that you can get it. It all depends on what your personal definition of “fast” means in regard to losing weight. 

When I was 12 years old I was a very chubby kid. I think I’ve written a little bit about this before. At first it was alright. I just joked about it and didn’t think about it too much. After a little while though, I developed a really bad body image. I soon became anorexic and I lost about 30 lbs. in a month and a half. Now 30 lbs. is a pretty rapid weight loss. For some people it may not be much. It all depends on how big you are. I was chubby but I was still short so I only weighed about 120 lbs.

After my transformation, I became skinny and then had to deal with not being able to gain any muscle weight so a lot of my transformation probably had to do with the growth pattern of adolescence. A very different story from mine is that of my friend who went on a 30 day juice fast. I wrote about my friend juicing in a previous post and how he lost something like 50 lbs. in a month. He’s a big guy but that was still an incredible weight loss. I would consider juicing to be one of the healthiest ways to lose weight fast. That is, if you do it right.

Of course, my recommendation is to take steps in the right direction instead of dropping in all at once. With a strictly healthy diet and a good workout routine, you can definitely achieve a rapid and healthy weight loss. Just look at the actor, Chris Pratt. Chris was out of shape with a beer belly when he got the job to play a superhero in an upcoming Marvel Comics movie, Guardians of the Galaxy. It only took him about 6 months to lose about 60 lbs. and not only did he lose fat, he also built muscle at the same time.

Even though Chris Pratt shows us that it is possible to burn a lot of fat and build a good amount of muscle in only 6 months, it is not easy. In order to do accomplish this feat, Chris would workout for hours almost every day and eat a diet that I’m sure was filling but not very delicious at times. When we completely restrict ourselves from certain foods it drives our minds and bodies crazy. We can do it but it requires a lot of discipline. In the case of Chris Pratt, I think he found plenty of motivation for his discipline in the fact that he would be payed a good amount of money to portray a superhero in a blockbuster movie.

If you can find it in you to follow such a regimen then I say go ahead. I really want people to do that and I am always inspired when they do. However for me, changes come much more gradual. I think that the best way is the way that works, but the way that works for me is to make gradual changes. Focus on adding some healthy foods and eliminating some unhealthy foods. Focus on adding some exercise to your routine and add light exercise throughout the day such as taking the stairs. That’s the method that I recommend.
