Inner Thigh Exercises at Home

If you have ever gone to the gym to workout, there’s a good chance that you found a good variety of machines that work all of the different muscles. Several years ago when I first stepped foot into a gym I saw those machines and thought that they were amazing.

Through observation, experimentation, and word of mouth, I have learned that most machines do not provide the same type of effective workout as free weights or bodyweight exercises. Exercising the inner thigh muscles is no different.

One of the many machines that you can find at any well equipped gym is the inner thigh machine. Although this machine provides a different type of workout, it is mostly a waste of time. Choose

Compound Movements over Isolation

The reason why is that, you are only using a small amount of muscles to do the work. The muscles of your legs are not learning to work together. So now you are sitting down, and only using a fraction your leg muscles.

This also means that you won’t burn as many calories. If you have access to this machine and you really like it then go ahead and use it, but make sure that you use compound movements as well.

Exercises to do at Home

If however you workout at home, you can focus on the different muscles of your thighs using variations of the Squat. To work your inner thighs more, do squats with a wider stance. The other inner thigh exercises at home that I want to share with you is the Isometric Split Stretch. This may have a different name somewhere else but that’s what I call it.

To do the Isometric Split Stretch, get into the front splits position and spread your legs out about a foot further than shoulder width apart. Press your legs towards each other for 5 to 10 seconds then stretch your legs out from each other.

When first introducing these exercises into your workouts, make sure to start out with less sets and reps then you’re normally used to. Now you have the tools you need to get a great inner thigh workout at home. If this is an area that you were lagging behind in, now you can make it one of your strengths.
