I’m sure that you’ve heard the old phrase, “different strokes for different folks.” It means that even though we as humans are very alike, we are also very different from one another.
When it comes to athletes and how they should train, it’s going to be different from the average citizen. And it’s going to be different from one sport to another, and from one player to another.
Many Variables of Sports Training
There are so many variables that come into play such as old injuries, position on the team, age, weight, gender, etc. Some of these variables require small changes in a workout plan, and some of them require big changes.
The sports training workouts that I include here will be mostly general training for each sport. Now, if I say one thing and your coach says another then there’s a good chance that you should listen to him over me.
That’s not to say, that I don’t know what I’m talking about, but rather that the coach knows more about you. At least, he or she should know more about you, and they should also know a great deal more about the specific sport. That’s why they are there.
The Importance of a Coach
Coaches have played and coached others in their chosen sport for years. They’ve experienced many things, and seen others experience many other things in their sport. My aim is to get you in great condition for that your sport.
If that means that you and your coach need to alter something in my workouts then so be it. My feelings won’t be hurt. I’m not here to be the “end-all” answer. We are all growing and learning, and I just hope that I can have a positive influence on that process.
